What is a leadership coach or an executive coach? What do you have to do to be a successful executive or career coach?

For most people, the terms executive coach and leadership coach are interchangeable. What it comes down to is developing organizational leadership. The first and most important thing an executive coach does is to help you develop as a person. It is this personal development that will allow you to tap into your potential as a great leader.

It all starts with deep self-analysis so that you thoroughly know yourself, your passions, your interests, your talents and skill set, your strengths and weakness, and you also deeply understand the values that drive you. Do you know how to bring out the best within yourself and inspire others to do the same? Can you build a solid team which works cohesively to master their self-defined objectives? If not, you might want to consider hiring a leadership or executive coach.

A leadership coach can help you hone in on your most compelling attributes while you simultaneously harness your ability to motivate and inspire. An executive coach can be instrumental to helping an organization succeed in today’s highly competitive business environment.

How effective is executive coaching or leadership coaching?

The numbers can speak for themselves. Manchester Inc. surveyed 100 business executives, most of whom were from Fortune 100 companies, who had previously worked with executive coaches.

More than half said that their productivity went up. Nearly half said that organizational strength improved. More than three quarters said that they had better relationships with their employees and slightly less than three quarters reported better relationships with their supervisors. About 40% said that customer service had improved. Two thirds of the executives said that teamwork and their relationships with their peers got better.

Tips For Becoming More Productive In Business

I am a big enthusiast of anything that will help me to be more productive, so I am always on the look out for ways to complete more work while not killing myself in the process. It is easier to get ahead if you can do more then your peers and still take time to relax and recharge. So here are some simple tips.

Put your energy into important work first. Determine what work has to the most impact, and make sure you finish that first. Don’t get side tracked with tasks that are not really all that important.

Get help if you need it. You will spend less time on a task if you don’t waste time trying to figure out how to do it. Make connections with people that you can ask for help. Remember this is a two way street, you have to willing to help others also.

Learn to handle correspondence one time. This is difficult to master, but it can really make a difference. For email or other communications, look over it and decide what to do with it right away: archive, respond, create a task item, and flag it for follow-up or discard. The goal here is to make sure you deal with it just once rather then looking at it numerous times.

Work in chunks of time and focus. Despite popular belief multitasking is not a good idea and actually hurts productivity. Studies have shown that people work better when they focus on one thing at a time. The best way to do this is to figure out when you are most productive and work in blocks of time for example 45 minutes with a 10-minute break.

Keep things simple. When faced with a task, search for ways to keep it simple and avoid spending time on complexity that does not add much value. Take simple document formatting for example; don’t get caught up in elaborate formatting instead focus on getting the content right.

Make time to recharge your batteries. If you constantly work you will appear like you are busy but you will burn yourself out. If you want to improve your productivity then take time to workout, do something fun, take time to relax. You will discover that if you do this you will feel renewed and you will be able to work even better.

Increase Your Own Productivity By Investing In Your Personal Development

Working for yourself is often one of the most challenging things that you can do. Barraged by a constant list of things to accomplish and, as many of them are considered to be difficult and time consuming tasks, you could be experiencing a lot of feelings of inadequacy and incompetence. The reason that you may be feeling these things or having trouble getting the work done is that you are not putting enough effort into your own personal development.

There is a close association between personal development and the productivity of an individual. The individuals who never invest in self-improvement in their lives are often torn between feelings of competence and incompetence. These feelings will easily result in low quality work being performed and problems with procrastination.

If you make a list of all the strengths and weaknesses you possess, you can better determine what things need to be improved upon. You should then schedule one hour a day to work on your weaknesses. This daily hour of self-improvement should not be thought upon as time taken away from the business, but instead, thought of as your strategy to improve the business.

The hour your take for self-improvement should be spent by listening to audio tapes, taking an Internet class, or reading books on how to improve yourself. However, before you invest in any of these things, confirm they have been written, produced, or taught by an actual expert in that particular topic. Because this industry is so large, you will be guaranteed to find them in the topic you are hoping to improve on.

Feelings of inadequacy and inefficiency can lead to very low productivity. It does not really matter that you own your own business, as these feelings can be difficult to deal with. However, if you take the time and work on your own personal development, you will find that your productivity increases, as well as your income.
